Definizione

Measure of the aromatic persistence or "length" of a wine in the mouth after tasting. Expressed in seconds. 1

Nota

Caudalie is a term used to measure the persistent flavours that remain in your mouth after you swallow (or spit out) the wine. An approximate English translation might be "aftertaste" or "finish," but the French take it one step further: Caudalie measures the actual duration of the wine's finish in seconds! So a wine rated as "15 Caudalie" lingers on the palate, in the taster's estimation, for 15 seconds. 2
1 Caudalie = 1 second of aftertaste. 3

Contesto

If the flavor of the wine stays in your mouth after swallowing for one second, that wine has achieved one caudalie. 4
