Definizione

Ampelometry is a sub-section of the ampelographic science and it is based on the nominal characterization of grapevine leaves.

[...] The arrangement of the five lobes, the shape of the ‘teeth’ at the edge of the leaf, the size and shape of the sinuses, and especially the angle and lengths of the main veins are features that are measured (ampelometry) for vine variety identification by ampelographers.2

Contesto

The traditional methods for the identification and differentiation of cultivars, ampelography and ampelometry, are based on morphological differences between the varieties.3
