Definizione

In the winetasting world, descriptor for a wine that is crystalline, luminous and bright. 1

Nota

To achieve a perfect limpidity, fining and filtration are essential as they will rid the wine of those very fine impurities which are the most difficult to eliminate. Limpidity is measurable. The naked eye can assess the clarity of a wine reasonably well provided the light is adequate and properly directed. An examination made in daylight by a window or against a lighted white background is generally sufficient for the winetaster or consumer. 2

Contesto

The taster lifts his glass in order to look at the wine against the light. One criterion of quality is the limpidity of the wine. 3
